75th Anniversary of the Deutsch-Britische Gesellschaft Rhein-Main e.V. at Villa Bonn

It was a pleasure to represent the German Friends of LSE at the 75th anniversary celebration of the Deutsch-Britische Gesellschaft Rhein-Main e.V. at Villa Bonn in Frankfurt on 6 October 2026.
The evening brought together members, guests and representatives from public institutions in Hesse to mark 75 years of commitment to British-German relations and exchange.
The programme included thoughtful and engaging remarks by Dr Andreas Fabritius, British Honorary Consul in Frankfurt, Dr Willem-Alexander van’t Padje, Head of Protocol at the Hessian State Parliament, and Nicholas Jefcoat, Chairman of the Society. The speeches also recalled the deep historical ties between Britain and the Rhein-Main region, including British involvement in the development of the Frankfurt–Homburg railway and the close connection of the British Royal Family with Bad Homburg.
The evening also reflected the long-standing ties between both countries, with a Loyal Toast, the British and German national anthems, and musical accompaniment by the Villa Bonn Jazz Quartett.
For 75 years, the Deutsch-Britische Gesellschaft Rhein-Main e.V. has contributed to strengthening relations between Germany and the United Kingdom and promoting exchange across public, academic and cultural life.
Many congratulations to Nicholas Jefcoat and the Society on this anniversary and thank you for the invitation and a very enjoyable evening.
